Toxicological risk of urban effluents discharged into the North-Western Coast in Lake Tanganyika (Democratic Republic of Congo) and their treatment by pressure-driven membrane filtration by Vercus LUMAMI KAPEPULA24 NovWater scarcity is one of the problems caused by global industrialization. In developing countries, population increase, rural exodus and environmental degradation are major threats to humanity. Inadequate wastewater treatment is a major concern, as it contributes greatly to the destruction of water resources when discharged into the environment.En savoir plusToxicological risk of urban effluents discharged into the North-Western Coast in Lake Tanganyika (Democratic Republic of Congo) and their treatment by pressure-driven membrane filtration by Vercus LUMAMI KAPEPULA24 NovWater scarcity is one of the problems caused by global industrialization. Unveil the interest of neutrons and nuclear reactors for science by Sanjay KRISHNAMURTHY24 NovCharacterization is a sole day-to-day activity at IMAP. It is an essential act for understanding the fundamental behavior of processed materials, whether they are metals, thin films, chemical reactions, membranes, or polymers. In this seminar, I will introduce the potential of neutrons for characterizing materials in research.En savoir plusUnveil the interest of neutrons and nuclear reactors for science by Sanjay KRISHNAMURTHY24 NovCharacterization is a sole day-to-day activity at IMAP. The Multiple States of Elastic Rings: Stability and Transitions by John HUTCHINSON21 NovMany well-known examples exist of elastic structures displaying distinctly different states under load, most commonly when they buckle, and there is considerable interest to design materials and structures capable of switching from one deformation state to another for functional purposes.En savoir plusThe Multiple States of Elastic Rings: Stability and Transitions by John HUTCHINSON21 NovMany well-known examples exist of elastic structures displaying distinctly different states under load, most commonly when they buckle, and there is considerable interest to design materials and structures capable of switching from one deformation state to another for functional purposes.

How doing some simulations can be insightful - an example in polymer composites17 NovPart 1: Nathan Klavzer How doing some simulations can be insightful - an example in polymer composites Have you had some finite element (i.e. numerical simulations) classes in the past and got scared or, perhaps, disgusted ? Well, let me help you regain faith in the usefulness of simulations in your PhD/work !!En savoir plusHow doing some simulations can be insightful - an example in polymer composites17 NovPart 1: Nathan Klavzer How doing some simulations can be insightful - an example in polymer composites Have you had some finite element (i.e. numerical simulations) classes in the past and got scared or, perhaps, disgusted ? Thermal turbulence modeling of heavy liquid metals via data analysis and machine learning by Matilde FIORE17 NovIn new-generation nuclear reactors, liquid metals are used to cool down the reacting core. Due to the opacity of liquid metals and their harsh operating conditions, a digital design approach based on CFD simulations is useful to study the thermal-hydraulics conditions.En savoir plusThermal turbulence modeling of heavy liquid metals via data analysis and machine learning by Matilde FIORE17 NovIn new-generation nuclear reactors, liquid metals are used to cool down the reacting core. Simulation and optimization of Airborne Wind Energy Systems for offshore applications using aerodynamic models and Large Eddy Simulation by Jean-Baptiste CRISMER16 NovAirborne Wind Energy Systems (AWES) consist of tethered wings that harvest power from the wind. Pumping-mode AWES are considered here: they generate power during the reel-out phase and consume a fraction of this power during the reel-in phase.En savoir plusSimulation and optimization of Airborne Wind Energy Systems for offshore applications using aerodynamic models and Large Eddy Simulation by Jean-Baptiste CRISMER16 NovAirborne Wind Energy Systems (AWES) consist of tethered wings that harvest power from the wind. Towards the development of a new high strength healable aluminium alloy by Sophie De Raedemacker10 NovDo you know the similarity between the concrete used by the Romans 2000 years ago and the aluminum alloy I'm working on? Drum roll... Both are healable! Obviously, the mechanism is different. For Roman concrete, water is required, whereas for my alloy, a heat treatment that can be coupled with the application of pressure is responsible for the healing.En savoir plusTowards the development of a new high strength healable aluminium alloy by Sophie De Raedemacker10 NovDo you know the similarity between the concrete used by the Romans 2000 years ago and the aluminum alloy I'm working on?
