The battle between the doing and the being by Sara Chergaoui23 JunThis seminar begins with a presentation on membrane science and technology, the membrane community, and current challenges. Particular attention will be given to the role of membranes in antisolvent crystallization. This represents the doing of a scientist: moving science forwards. The second part, is an open discussion on the being, or the human aspect of a scientist.En savoir plusThe battle between the doing and the being by Sara Chergaoui23 JunThis seminar begins with a presentation on membrane science and technology, the membrane community, and current challenges. Designing Robust and Antifragile Energy Systems: Strategies to Thrive in the Face of Uncertainty by Diederik Coppitters22 JunThe design of emerging energy systems relies on limited market data and long-term forecasts, leading to significant uncertainty in critical model inputs such as efficiencies, resource availabilities, fuel prices and investment costs. We consistently underestimate these uncertainties due to our reliance on the ordinary and the predictable, neglecting exceptional scenarios.En savoir plusDesigning Robust and Antifragile Energy Systems: Strategies to Thrive in the Face of Uncertainty by Diederik Coppitters22 JunThe design of emerging energy systems relies on limited market data and long-term forecasts, leading to significant uncertainty in critical model inputs such as efficiencies, resource availabilities, fuel prices and investment costs. Control of anthropomorphic robotic arms and myoelectric prostheses using invasive and non-invasive Brain Machine Interfaces05 JunThe traces of amputations and those of the tools/apparatus proposed, designed and manufactured to replace the lost upper or lower limbs can be found in Antiquity. Amputees and/or tetraplegics have varying degrees of disability and anatomical dysfunction. However, existing upper arm prosthetics, particularly the prosthetic hands, are quite far from being able to substitute the lost functions.En savoir plusControl of anthropomorphic robotic arms and myoelectric prostheses using invasive and non-invasive Brain Machine Interfaces05 JunThe traces of amputations and those of the tools/apparatus proposed, designed and manufactured to replace the lost upper or lower limbs can be found in Antiquity.
